Happy to announce that our long-pending feature for group travelers was unveiled at the startup demo day hosted by a renowned automobile maker. We were selected as some of our features matched their connected car and infotainment/navigation business unit. CHI was under wraps for over 1.5 years and we were waiting for the right moment to reveal it.
What is CHI?
CHI stands for the CohesivityIndex of the group. This is mainly a group traveling feature in which the members enroll and subscribe for a common Tripmantu Trip-ID. Once done, CHi comes into play wherein based on how sparsely the group is separated out CHI is derived and further decides the theme of the panel. This theme is pushed onto the screens of all the group members traveling/enrolled for that trip giving a visual indication of the group cohesiveness.
Consider that vehicles A,B and C are traveling in a group and have enrolled for a common Trip-ID. In the first picture, we can see that all the vehicles are in close proximity ( safe distance maintained throughout ) and their CHI is 0.8 indicating the group is closely knit.
Whereas in the second picture vehicle C is lagging behind the group, and a new CHI of 0.2 is derived. This kicks in a trigger to all connected panels/screens/head units to change the theme, in this case, red as shown in the picture above, thus giving a common visual indication to all the drivers. Further, the feedback can be relayed to a connected IOT device to change the callSign LEDs attached to the exterior of the car. This helps the driver to visually analyze the situation around them while driving.
With 5G coming into play this preciseness of location identification of vehicles traveling at high speed will increase. This is due to the fact that the location information will be relayed in every radio and signaling message by the network itself thus giving a more precise location.
This can also be used for a group touring feature wherein users are alerted when they stray away from their group. Group admin can further create a visual call sign to let all the members locate them.
