The Anjaneyadri hill is in Hampi Karnataka state, India. It is the birthplace of Hanuman. According to Hindu Transcripts, Hanuman was born to Anjana and thus Hanuman was also called Anjaneya, and his birthplace Anjaneyadri (Anjana’s Hill).
There are some interesting facts about the significance of this place. This region was once known as Kishkinda ( now Hampi ). In Ramayana, a sacred Sanskrit Holy book, Kishkinda was the kingdom of Vanaras. It was ruled by King Sugriva, the younger brother of Vali. According to the text Kishkinda was the kingdom that Sugriva ruled with the assistance of his counsellor, Hanuman.
There are some 575 steps to reach the hilltop temple that has a rock-carved Hanuma statue.
It comes under the Hampi circuit that is around 380Kms from Bangalore and as well as Hyderabad. The closest town is Hospete where you can get moderate accommodation.
